There’s nothing more Cuban than Guava & Cheese Empanadas and let us tell you, Abuela Conchita’s were the island’s favorites! Oh yeah, they were super famous back home and now we are bringing you the original recipe that made Cubans travel all over the island for more!

Check out this easy version of Abuela’s Conchita famous empanadas:

Ingredients

  • Pre-made dough for pastries
  • Cream Cheese
  • 1 package or can of Conchita
  • Guava Paste
  • Conchita Vegetable Oil, for frying

Directions

  1. Slice the cream cheese and guava paste into thin slices.
  2. Add the cream cheese on top of the dough and top with guava paste. Fold dough over, moisten the edges with water, and press edges with a fork to seal.
  3. Heat ½ inch of Conchita Vegetable Oil over medium heat in a frying pan and cook the empanadas on both sides for a couple of minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Carefully, remove and drain on paper towels. 

Tip: If you prefer to bake, brush your empanadas with egg wash, and sprinkle with sugar. Place the empanadas on a greased cooking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
